Vince Sewalt led R&D programs at Pioneer Hi-Bred and Kemin Industries around the turn of the Century and Regulatory Affairs & Advocacy functions of Bioscience-focused DuPont business units in the 2010s prior to refocsing on science translation and biotech risk communication over the last several years. Vince has an engineer degree from Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands, a PhD in Nutrition from Virginia Tech, and did post‐doctoral research in agricultural biotechnology with Agriculture Canada and with the Noble Foundation. With over 25 years’ experience managing innovation and market access of biotechnology products in four US companies, Vince is passionate about capacity building in biotech acceptance & oversight for new applications and in emerging markets. He has filed numerous successful regulatory submissions with US and Canadian regulatory agencies. In recent years, he has shared his insights in biotech risk assessment & food science communication in several food and biotechnology conferences, with multiple trade associations, with NGOs such as Woodrow Wilson, the National Academy of Sciences, IAFNS, Codex Alimentarius, IFIC, and in meetings with regulatory agencies such as the US FDA, US EPA, USDA and their counterparts in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. In industry, Vince has been active as board member of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, is past Chair of the Enzyme Technical Association where he promotes global information exchange and joint issue positioning with other regional enzyme associations. Vince served on the board of the cellular agriculture NGO New Harvest and is Associate Editor of the journal Industrial Biotechnology. In addition to regulatory submissions and presentations, Vince is well‐published with over 25 peer‐reviewed publications and patents in the areas of plant sciences, agriculture, nutrition, biotechnology, safety assessment, and biotech communication.
