Dr. Ravit Netzer is the Co-Founder and CEO of Scala Biodesign, a computational protein design startup that launched a no-code SaaS platform enabling R&D teams to independently design enzymes, biotherapeutics and other complex proteins at scale. By breaking the iterative design-test-refine cycle of traditional and AI-based protein engineering, Scala generates more potent and stable proteins in a single design round, accelerating the engineering workflows, cutting down experimental effort and costs. More importantly, Scala enables the design of proteins that were previously considered unfeasible, allowing companies to pursue applications they had ruled out and expanding the potential of protein-based solutions across industries. Scala’s proprietary approach—integrating atomistic protein design calculations, AI and evolutionary data—has been validated across diverse protein classes and applications, including enzymes for biocatalysis and DNA processing, biotherapeutics, and vaccines, as evidenced by more than 130 scientific publications. Under Ravit’s leadership, Scala has gained the trust of five of the world’s top-20 pharmaceutical companies, as well as leading chemical and energy enterprises. She holds a Ph.D. in computational protein design from the Weizmann Institute of Science, where her research focused on developing novel methodologies for designing high-specificity and high-activity proteins.
