Nicholas leads the imaging technology team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, where he is focused on the development of new imaging technology for measuring biology in action. He has helped develop open source image analysis and visualization software (napari) and helped invent and commercialize cutting edge microscopes (the 2-photon random access mesoscope). He was previously a researcher at the Janelia Research Campus, and has a background in systems neuroscience and mathematics.
