Matthew cares deeply about creating enzymes that will realise the full potential of synthetic biology. He spent 6 years at the Swedish synbio company EnginZyme where, as VP for enzyme development and innovation, developed, enzymes for alternative sweeteners and lead the manufacture of pseudouridine a key mRNA raw material. Inspired by the potential of generative AI for developing enzymes he joined Biomatter in 2024 and is working to scale their business and enable others to innovate with their enzymes.
