Dr. Lavella is the chief executive officer of Canaery. His area of expertise lies in nanotechnology, biosensing and the development of neurotechnologies. Dr. Lavella holds undergraduate degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering and received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Before founding Canaery in 2020, he worked as a senior engineering consultant for Exponent Inc, an advisor to DARPA, and as an ideation lead at Alpha Innovation.  He is passionate about economics, the history of technology and exploring emerging innovations that remain under the radar.
