A trailblazer for the Latin American startup community, she was the first Mexican woman to establish an early-stage venture capital firm in Mexico and in Silicon Valley and was three times recognized by Latino Leaders magazine as one of the nation's 100 Most Influential Latinas. A scientist by training, Consuelo's passion for bridging science, technology, and business fueled her initial forays into entrepreneurship. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami at the age of 20, she returned to Mexico and founded her own P.C. manufacturing company, and went on to launch a regional science museum, a science magazine, and a T.V. and podcast science series. She also spearheaded CEMITT, Mexico's first innovation center, which continues to be a vital driver for entrepreneurship. Consuelo completed a master's program in Science Entrepreneurship in London on commercializing science and getting research out of the lab. She has been investing in foodtech in the U.S. and Latin America, including DProtein, MicroMeat - Mexico's first cell-cultured protein startup, Minus Coffee, and Finless Foods in the U.S. SVLC's portfolio of investments across climate, health, and economic opportunity include multi-billion dollar companies and successful exits. Consuelo also holds an MSc in Computer Science with honors from Tecnológico de Monterrey and completed a year of graduate studies in Genomics. Before becoming a United States citizen, she was granted an 0-1 visa for "Aliens with Exceptional Abilities" by the U.S. government and received a Distinguished Engineer award from the IEEE in Mexico.
