Charlotte McCurdy is a Core Design Lecturer at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) at Stanford University where she teaches design at the intersection of climate change, futures, and strategy. In her research she develops carbon-negative artifacts and systems using design-led experimentation. In her scholarship she writes and speaks on questions of “sustainability” in design. As a design strategist, she advises across sectors on strategic foresight, decarbonization and communication. This work has led to exhibiting and speaking to audiences around the world including being featured at the London Design Museum and in the Cooper Hewitt Triennial. Recent collaborators include Hyundai/Genesis, 3.1 Phillip Lim, the UN Office for Partnerships, and Swarovski. Previously she served as Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at Arizona State University and at the Rhode Island School of Design. Currently, she is working on her first book, De-Industrial Design, as part of the “Designing Now” series from Lund Humphries.
