Cain McClary

Cain McClary, MD is the founder and Managing Partner of KdT Ventures. Over the past decade, Cain has been at the forefront of the intersection of technology and science, investing and advising companies now collectively valued in excess of $6 Billion. His passion for transformative science and investing led Cain to found KdT Ventures, an early-stage venture firm focused on backing founders and their companies re-architecting the world at a molecular level. KdT is a top-decile venture firm, powered by a team of nine investment professionals with varying advanced degrees (MD, PhD, JD). The firm manages ~$280M deployed globally across healthcare, chemicals, and agriculture with offices in Austin and Durham.

A native of Nashville, TN, Cain received his Sc.B. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Brown University in 2007. Following Brown, Cain went on to receive his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2012. During medical school, Cain also spent a year at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as part of the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) “Cloister” Fellowship, where he studied the role of non-coding RNA in cancer at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Immediately following medical school, Dr. McClary underwent residency training in Anatomic Pathology at Stanford University, where during his final year, he was named Chief Resident and subsequently Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University. Currently, Cain resides in Austin, TX with his wife and two kids.
