Ashley Beckwith is a multidisciplinary researcher and innovator. She holds degrees in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from MIT (PhD, SM) and Colorado State University (BS). Ashley’s engagement in biomaterials, advanced manufacturing, and cell culture-related research spans more than a decade. Beckwith has authored multiple peer-reviewed research articles on subjects spanning microfluidics, immunotherapies, and lab-grown plant materials. Her recent research united concepts in tissue engineering, bioprinting, and plant cell culture to explore the feasibility of growing in vitro plant materials with tunable forms and properties. For this work, Beckwith was granted the MIT MTL Doctoral Dissertation Seminar Award. Beckwith is now Founder and CEO of FORAY bioscience, a startup company focused on leveraging plant cell culture to produce treeless tree products.
