Revive & Restore is the leading nonprofit advancing biotechnology solutions to complement traditional conservation strategies. Founded in San Francisco by Stewart Brand and Ryan Phelan, the organization supports innovative, evolution-encompassing research around the globe.
As a Program Manager, Ashlee Hutchinson oversees applied genetic rescue projects for threatened species. She leads Revive & Restore’s Stem Cell Technologies program, developing stem-cell-enabled tools for species conservation. Ashlee also manages the newly established Applied Stem Cell Conservation Fund, dedicated to catalyzing the use of pluripotent stem cells to support reproduction in endangered species, address wildlife disease, and transform biobanking efforts.
Ashlee brings a deep passion for integrating advanced assisted reproductive technologies into conservation practices. Trained as an embryologist, she earned her PhD at the University of Melbourne, focusing on the derivation of iPSCs from a marsupial and optimizing conditions for marsupial IVF. Her postdoctoral research at Monash University centered around the molecular regulation of spermatogonial stem cells.
