Dr. Ali Douraghy currently serves as Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Innovation at the U.S. Department of Energy. His office leads oversight for a $15 billion portfolio of R&D across DOE’s Office of Science, Applied Energy Programs and 13 National Laboratories, the premier engines of scientific discovery and clean energy innovation. Dr. Douraghy’s career spanning science diplomacy, climate and energy includes leadership roles at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and received his PhD in Biomedical Physics from the UCLA School of Medicine and BS in Bioengineering from the UCSD School of Engineering.
