Kurita America, a key player in the global industrial water treatment sector, has announced a strategic collaboration with Solugen, a manufacturer of bio-based chemicals, to create a new line of carbon-negative water treatment products. This partnership aims to introduce high-performance, bio-based alternatives to phosphorus and other petroleum-derived additives currently used in the market.
Mike Mowbray, Senior Vice President of the Marketing and Technology Group for Kurita America, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are very excited to expand our partnership with Solugen to create innovative technologies that tackle many of the challenges of traditional water treatment programs. This collaboration will significantly enhance our existing Creating Shared Value (CSV) business that helps customers achieve sustainability goals.”
Kurita’s CSV business, noted as one of the company's fastest-growing segments, is dedicated to developing products, technologies, and business models that conserve water, reduce CO2 emissions, and minimize industrial waste, all while enhancing plant productivity for their customers. A key development in this segment is the Tower NG series of cooling products, which utilizes cutting-edge polymer technology and Solugen’s proprietary biodegradable corrosion inhibitor. This innovative series replaces traditional organo-phosphonates, offering equivalent or superior results in deposit and corrosion control without relying on conventional water treatment chemicals.
Gaurab Chakrabarti, CEO of Solugen, highlighted the alignment of the two companies' goals: “Kurita’s shared vision for driving sustainability through innovative solutions makes them an ideal partner for expanding the use of Solugen’s carbon-negative products. We look forward to the collective impact we will have in providing the water treatment industry with decarbonized solutions that don’t sacrifice on performance.”
This collaboration between Kurita America and Solugen underscores a commitment to sustainability and innovation in the water treatment industry, promising to deliver effective, environmentally friendly solutions that support both companies' goals of reducing carbon footprints and enhancing industrial efficiency.
