Bolt Threads, Inc., a leader in sustainable biomaterials for consumer products, has successfully completed its merger with Golden Arrow Merger Corp (Nasdaq: GAMC). Following shareholder approval at Golden Arrow’s special meeting on August 9, 2024, the combined entity, now named Bolt Projects Holdings Inc., is set to begin trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “BSLK” starting August 14, 2024. Dan Widmaier, the Founder and CEO of Bolt Threads, will continue to lead the newly formed company.

In a statement, Widmaier expressed enthusiasm for the company’s new phase as a public entity. “We are pleased to begin our next chapter in the public market as the leading biomaterials platform, focused on transforming the high-volume consumer goods industries by delivering superior alternative materials tapped from nature,” he said. “We are thankful to our leadership team, employees and partners for their support on our journey. We believe Bolt Threads is well-positioned to capitalize on significant growth opportunities and generate substantial value for all stakeholders.”

Jacob W. Doft, Chairman of the Board at Golden Arrow, also shared his optimism about the merger's potential. “Bolt Threads’ biomaterials platform offers a complete solution of sustainable alternatives from nature that can transform a multitude of high-volume consumer goods with biodegradable, non-toxic alternatives,” Doft said. “We look forward to accelerating Bolt Threads’ growth and solidifying a long-term partnership.”

Bolt Threads, known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, has spent 14 years researching, testing, and developing biomaterials that replace traditional, often environmentally harmful, ingredients in consumer goods. The company’s portfolio includes 49 granted patents and 171 pending applications, underscoring its role as a key player in the biomaterials space.

Among its innovative products, b-silk™ stands out as Bolt Threads’ flagship offering. This fully biodegradable, non-toxic protein polymer is designed for the beauty and personal care industry, where it serves as a sustainable alternative to silicone elastomers—synthetic ingredients criticized for leaving biopersistent polymers, including microplastics, in the environment. Inspired by spider silk proteins, b-silk™ has been available since 2020 and is featured in products like Vegamour and Kelly Slater’s Freaks of Nature sunscreen.
