The successfulcandidate will be located at the Rosalind Franklin Biotechnology Center (RFBC)in Delft, the Netherlands. The Center, part of the global Science and Researchorganization, spans activities across the entire Innovation pipeline; frominception through research and development, to commercial scale production. The RFBC has world class competences in engineering biologyand precision fermentation and as part of the Global Biotechnology organization, it is responsiblefor delivering new bioproducts and sustainable bioprocesses.
The Senior Principal Scientist position is asenior appointment within dsm-firmenich. He or she is widely recognized as anexpert in the field of Synthetic Biology and expected to maintain the mostup-to-date scientific view of this field as it pertains to shaping andimplementing key aspects of our Biotechnology technology and competency strategy and deliver on our Innovation goals.
l Shape key aspects of theBiotechnology technology and competency strategy; with the Senior Principal Scientist subsequently responsible forimplementation across the global network of Science and Research sites.
l Develop and deliver the <Synthetic Biology – Engineering Biology > technology platform competencydevelopment program to develop new and novel, project mandated, andtechnologies.
l Ensure a high standard of knowledgedevelopment and project execution (‘qualityof science’).
l Own the Product and Competency expertisemap; and togetherwith Senior Vice President of Biotechnology safeguarding our abilityto deliver today and in the future.
l Deliver, through technical contributions, the milestones for exploratory and new productclass, innovation projects.
l Perform a Technology assurance role across innovation programsand act as relationship manager within external collaborations.
l Be a key element for the successful post-merger integration and lead by example, contribute to the harmonizationof processes and ways of working.
l Being part of an interdisciplinary Science& Research team of industry-leading researchers workingat state-of-the-art equippedresearch facilities.

l MSc or preferably PhD in Bioscience, Biochemical Engineering, or related field or in a relatedfield.
l 15+ years of experience inIndustrial Biotechnology and aproven track record of own researchand product development as a Synthetic Biologist.
l Experience leading complex projectsblending scientific and business acumen and having a good understanding of manufacturing needsand limitations.
l Problem solving mindset, looking for practicalsolutions, proactivity, drive to challengethe status quo.
l Superior communication skills with a broad range of stakeholders,emotional intelligence, build trust andstrategic relationships, understand cultural aspects.
l Internationally recognizedin an area of expertise.
