We are seeking a Research Associate II or III in our Pleasanton office.


Job Description

Inscripta is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Associate II/III to join our Analytical Chemistry team. We are looking for exceptional candidates with experience in sample preparation, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation as well as instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting. This individual will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to generate and deliver high-quality data using chromatography, mass spectrometry and automation-based instrumentation. This work is highly collaborative, and the candidate must be able to work with scientists and engineers of all levels and from different disciplines. Creativity, analytical thinking, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems while maintaining a positive attitude are critical to success in this position. The ideal candidate will have experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC and mass spectrometry. This position reports to the Director of Analytical Chemistry.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Screening, Fermentation and Down Stream Processing teams to monitor sample submissions, prepare samples using manual and automated workflows, and apply informatics tools as available to increase process efficiency.
  • Prepare and evaluate HPLC, GC, GC/MS and LC/MS instrumentation readiness for data acquisition. Generate high-quality data sets, complete qualitative and quantitative analysis as requested, upload data to LIMS for Data Science evaluation.
  • Prepare chemical calibration samples for quantitative analysis.
  • Perform volumetric and gravimetric sample preparations.
  • Develop novel and improve existing analytical assays.
  • Persistent focus on process development and efficiency. Engage Automation and Data Science teams to develop protocols and tools necessary to implement your ideas.
  • Document assay development and process improvements. Drafting of SOPs and other technical documentation.
  • Maintain EH&S compliance at all times with a focus on safety and lab citizenship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or related discipline, with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience operating HPLC, GC, GC/MS and/or LC/MS instrumentation.
  • Experience with sample extraction/preparation, data acquisition and quantitative/qualitative analysis.
  • Ability to provide analytical support to multiple workstreams and to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to present results and data interpretation in team and project meetings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

*Experience interfacing in a cross disciplinary environment with Strain Engineering, Automation, Data Science and Facilities teams.

*Previous startup experience.

*Previous Synthetic Biology experience.


Inscripta offers a competitive base salary, bonus plan, benefits package, 401k match and an attractive equity program to all team members. Starting Salary Range: $70,000 - $105,000 per year. This salary range is provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
