Sarah Lau is a patent attorney and Partner in the Life Sciences & Chemistry group at Kilburn & Strode LLP. Sarah handles all aspects of the patent procedure, from identifying inventions and advising on patentability and IP strategy to drafting patent applications, prosecuting patent applications in Europe and the UK and coordinating patent strategy on worldwide patent portfolios. Her clients include academic institutes, UK and international startups and SMEs and large multinationals. Technology-wise, she specialises in the field of biotechnology, and within that her particular interests lie in the areas of synthetic biology, next-generation sequencing technologies, proteomics and antibody technology. She speaks regularly on aspects of European and UK patent practice and IP issues in relation to biotechnology. Sarah has a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in molecular and cellular biology.
