Andrew Spicer is the Chief Research Scientist and Scientific Director of Algenuity. Andrew received a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology in 1993 from University College London through his doctoral research at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK) Laboratories in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. He went on to complete a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale before embarking upon an academic career with UC Davis. He has published over 35 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, primarily within the area of gene characterisation, expression, manipulation and function in eukaryotes. His articles have collectively been cited over 3000 times since publication. Andrew has acted in a consultant role for Proctor & Gamble and Novozymes Biotech and is the named inventor on four patents. Andrew is an appointed committee member of the UK Algal Bioenergy Special Interest Group (AB-SIG) and active member of the UK’s SynBio branch of the BioIndustry Association.
