Alan Villalobos – Vice President of Synthetic Biology
Alan is the Vice President of Synthetic Biology at DNA2.0. He received his Computer Engineering degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and in 2005 joined DNA2.0 to build the company’s data management platform. Over the last 10 years, Alan has been the main architect for designing and implementing a suite of deeply integrated computational tools that allow for efficient tracking, annotating, manipulating, visualizing, interrogating and predicting sequence, and sequence-function correlation across the commercial spectrum of DNA2.0 projects and products. The tools developed by Alan and his team utilize modern machine learning algorithms and systematically varied sequence data sets to extract sequence-function understanding and exploratory opportunities derived from very sparse data sets. Some implementations of these tools have been made available to the public, including Gene Designer and DNA ATLAS.
