We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our pre-commercial product development team to stabilize microbes and lead the development of robust, innovative and scalable formulation processes for pre-commercial strains. This includes responsibility of formulation development from concept all the way to scale up and transfer to manufacturing. The incumbent will work closely with our fermentation, strain discovery and plant biology teams to ensure developing well fitted formulation.

Responsibilities:

  • Works as an integral part of our pre-commercial team to achieve project goals
  • Develop and conduct assays for screening various panel of formulation amendment and their effectiveness in final application
  • Provide innovative and out of box ideas and conduct Proof of Concept for the ideas
  • Develops scalable formulation processes in combination with selected amendments
  • Lead scale up of the formulation process and transfer to manufacturing
  • Manages team of Process Engineers, Senior Research Associates, Research Associates

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in the field of Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science/engineering or related fields with 3-5 years industry experience, or M.S. with 9+ years’ industry experience
  • Strong understanding of microbial stability and its correlation to formulation
  • Strong understanding of polymer science and adaptability of amendment to various unit operation
  • Understanding impact of fermentation residue in formulation processes is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership experience is preferred
  • Data organization and reporting using computer-based applications
