Sr./Process Development Technician (DSP): Geltor, San Leandro

At Geltor we design award-winning ingredients for the world’s biggest consumer product companies. Geltor is looking for a Sr. Process Development Technician/Process Development Technician to join our Downstream team in San Leandro, CA.
The ideal candidate will be a true team player and someone who is willing to jump in and do it all—from running processes to cleaning equipment. This position offers the opportunity to be an active member of the process development team operating protein processing technologies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate various protein processing technologies such as solid liquid separation, cell disruption/protein extraction, tangential flow filtration, column adsorption, evaporation and drying between 5 – 1000L fermentation scale
    • Follow and execute experimental design protocols, equipment and process SOPs, and production batch records to perform protein processing
    • Draft, review and update equipment process and cleaning SOPs
    • Participate in pilot equipment and utility commissioning and decommissioning
    • Contribute in troubleshooting initiatives related to processing, product quality and equipment
    • Support successful technology transfer and scale-up of processes to CRO/CMO partners
    • Acknowledge deviation from usual observations and results
    • Provide technical feedback based on experimental run observations and results
    • Demonstrate excellent record keeping and accountability
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace
    • Lead by example, champion Geltor, and uphold company values


      • Associate Degree. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Life Sciences is a plus
      • 2- 5 years of of experience in pilot plant or manufacturing operations (food, biochemical and/or pharmaceutical). cGMP experience is a plus
      • Understanding and working knowledge of sanitary biotech processes, systems, pilot scale manufacturing equipment, and downstream process scale-up and troubleshooting
      • Self-motivated individuals with strong oral and written communications skills with good organization skills
      • Ability to establish and maintain high-quality records and inventory
      • Efficient multi-tasker able to follow complex instructions
      • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on feet for extended period
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to discuss technical concepts within the team
      • A positive, open, and intellectually curious team player who embraces the challenges and excitement of an entrepreneurial business

    • Additional details:
    • Occasional domestic and international travel at various times during projects. Travel is intermittent and varies by stage of project
    • Title dependent on years of experience and education
