The UW Institute for Protein Design currently has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time SOFTWARE ENGINEER with expertise in machine learning. The Institute for Protein Design is designing a new world of synthetic proteins for 21st-century challenges.

Primary Responsibilties:

  • Perform software engineering of specific Rosetta code for use in relation to GPGPU accelerated computing for reinforcement learning for conformational search for protein structure prediction and design.
  • Develop GPGPU accelerated code for specific Rosetta subroutines for protein structure prediction and design.
  • In collaboration with researchers at the Institute for Protein Design, develop deep learning and reinforcement learning approaches for protein conformational sampling, de novo design of new proteins,  protein structure refinement, and design of high-affinity binding proteins.
  • Collaborate with the Investigator and numerous researchers at the Institute for Protein Design on software engineering of specific Rosetta code for use in relation to GPGPU accelerated computing for conformational sampling for de novo design of new proteins,  protein structure refinement, and design of high-affinity binding proteins.
  • Collaborates with other research staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students on de novo design of new proteins.
  • Trains others in how to use Rosetta SOFTWARE, deep learning, and protein design computing infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree in Computational Protein Design or related programming/software engineering field and 2 or more years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Computational protein design with Rosetta, Software languages and database architectures.
  • Familiarity with machine learning strategies and energy function optimization.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
