Biologists are held back by the need to run their experiments by hand. Manual pipetting is a tedious, error-prone process, and its slowing down science. We believe biologists should be free of monotonous labwork and the repetitive stress injuries that come with it. They should be able to spend their time designing experiments and analyzing data, moving us closer to scientific understanding and the world-changing technologies that follow.
That’s why Opentrons makes robots for biologists that are 10x cheaper and easier to use than any lab automation before. Our robots automate experiments that would otherwise be done by hand so our users can spend less time pipetting and more time pursuing answers to the 21st century’s most important questions.
We are looking for a Sales Executive to join our interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, designers, and business people to spread the word about our low-cost, easy-to-use lab robot.
About the Role
The Sales Executive will play a key role in our growing sales operations. You will be an early hire on our outbound Sales team and will have strong opportunity for growth within the sales organization. We are looking for a salesperson who is highly motivated and not afraid to own projects and propose new and innovative ideas.

This role is unique in that we have collected leads with relevant contact information and so there is no lead sourcing required. The SDR team will also set meetings for you to run and close.

  • Own and nurture a sales pipeline from qualified lead to demo to the final sale.
  • Help potential customers evaluate our product over email, live chat, and videoconference in a highly professional manner.
  • Execute an organized sales process for many active qualified leads, leveraging Salesforce.
  • Owner mindset – You are highly self-directed, goal oriented, and show excellent independent judgement.
  • Meticulous – You are highly detailed-oriented and ensure there a no tasks left unfinished.
  • Team player – You have excellent collaboration skills and excel coordinating with highly interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communicator –  You are clear, concise, and engaging in written and oral communication.
  • Thrive in fast-paced startup environment – You are comfortable with the uncertainty of charting new territory and relish the thrill of moving fast to solve tough problems.
  • You care about life-science – We are a team of people who want to make a difference by helping scientists answer important questions.
  • Biology Background – You’ve worked in the biology lab and are familiar with the tedious manual pipetting that our product alleviates from scientists’ day-to-day work.
  • Sales experience – 1+ years of full cycle sales experience, regardless of industry
  • CRM – Experience with managing a CRM system, preferably Salesforce
