We seek to hire a highly motivated Research Scientist to join the Microbial Engineering division at Colorifix. The successful candidate will be a pivotal member of the team, supporting in the assembly of colour pathways from strain engineering through to dye characterisation on the fabric.
Skills should include strong experience in synthetic biology / molecular microbiology, biochemistry, DNA assembly, genetic engineering, optimisation of metabolic pathways, and bacterial growth curves. Knowledge in fermentation, bioinformatics, enzyme engineering, automation, or analytical chemistry would be advantageous but not essential. Candidates with a working knowledge of electronic notebooks and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) will be at an advantage, but training will also be provided. The Microbial Engineering team is looking for a candidate who enjoys multi-disciplinary teamwork, taking on challenges, shows creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm, and excellent communication skills.

Reports to: Head of Microbial Engineering
Location: Norwich Research Park, Norwich
Qualifications: Ph.D. in synthetic biology or a relevant subject and 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
Remuneration: Annual salary of £35,000-38,000, depending on the level of experience.
