Research Associate Fermentation – ADAS, Invaio Sciences, Cambridge, MA

Role Overview

The Research Associate will be a critical member of our Active Dynamic Achromosomal Systems (ADAS) team. This team is focused on advancing one of Invaio’s propriety platform technologies in agricultural applications. The RA will be responsible for helping to run our lab scale bioreactor and will be involved in the downstream process for particle isolation, purification, and analysis. This will allow us to answer key questions across our portfolio of projects and technology platforms aimed at solving a diverse set of challenges in agriculture. You will be a key member of Invaio’s dynamic, expanding, and collaborative team that combines significant experience in microbe-host interactions and plant health to unlock the potential of the company’s proprietary technological platform.

Responsibilities

  • Run our lab scale fermentation process
  • Run production and isolation techniques
  • Assessing purity and concentration post isolation
  • Analyzing particle size and content
  • Collaborating closely with other team members

Qualifications

  • B.S./M.S. in bioengineering, process engineering, chemical engineer, or a related discipline
  • 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Execution-focused, team-oriented, and highly motivated, with strong work ethic
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, innovative environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with microbial fermentation and bioreactors
  • Experience with diverse downstream bioprocessing technologies
  • Experience cloning and validating genetic constructs
  • Experience with PCR and primer design
  • Experience with molecular and biochemical assays such as gel electrophoresis, qPCR, immunoblotting
  • Experience with agricultural applications preferred
