Process Development Associate/Process Development Technician, Triton AI (San Diego,CA)

Triton Algae Innovations Ltd., an innovative future-food technology company, is seeking a process development associate or a process development technician for a position at our San Diego, CA facility. The individual will work under the guidance of a scientist or senior process engineer to develop upstream and downstream algal fermentation processes. The individual will also work to implement established SOPs for pilot scale production of algal biomass.


Under general supervision, carry out fermentation experiments, record data, maintenance of fermentation equipment, troubleshoot experiments.


  • Carry out fermentation experiments under the guidance of a scientist.

  • Prep various types of media

  • Read SOPs

  • Prepare fermenters for SIP or CIP sequences

  • Follow SOPs for fermentation processes

  • Microbial contamination screening

  • Sample fermenters

  • Prepare samples for analysis

  • Communicate with scientist

  • Recording data

  • Submit detailed fermentation shift reports


Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology or related field, preferred direct relevant fermentation experience; preferred 1-3+ years industrial experience.

  • Preferred experience in fermentation, microbial upstream or downstream processes

  • Prefered strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.).
