Patent Officer: Synbionik – Germany

Synbionik is an innovative and expanding biotech start-up that specializes in the production of natural substances through biosynthesis. We are developing a synthetic biology platform from genetically modified microorganisms and suitable bioreactor systems.


  • Elaboration of initial registrations and replies to decisions for submission to the German Patent and Trademark Office or the European Patent Office
  • As a member of our international IP team, you will participate in the conception and implementation of strategies, processes and initiatives
  • You will process incoming invention reports and deal with the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications at national and international level
  • You will be responsible for the administration and coordination of external lawyers in the event of property right infringement proceedings and other lawsuits


  • Completed degree in biology (molecular biology) or bioprocess engineering or a related discipline
  • Completed examination as a patent officer desirable
  • Experience in contact with patent attorneys and the implementation of own patent applications as an inventor
  • Ability to transfer genetic engineering innovations into a patent application
  • Excellent written and spoken English and other language skills are desirable
  • Experience or affinity to move in an international work environment
  • Independent, goal-oriented and careful way of working
  • Analytical and precise way of thinking
