Synbionik is an innovative and expanding biotech start-up that specializes in the production of natural substances through biosynthesis. We are developing a synthetic biology platform from genetically modified microorganisms and suitable bioreactor systems.


  • Successfully completed master’s degree (preferably with a doctorate) in the field of biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics or a comparable qualification, ideally with a focus on rational protein engineering / design
  • Initial work experience in the field of protein engineering is an advantage
  • Advanced skills in handling OS Linux and programming with Python (or similar)
  • Well-founded experience in the field of data science and machine learning
  • Targeted, result or solution-oriented way of working
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Teamwork
  • Good German and English skills


  • You have in-depth specialist knowledge of computer-aided modeling of proteins and small molecules
  • You have several years of experience using Rosetta software for protein engineering
  • You have specialist knowledge of software packages for molecular dynamic simulations such as GROMACS, DESMOND, AMBER, NAMD (experience with QM-MM is an advantage)
  • Profound knowledge in the field of enzyme catalysis, both experimentally and theoretically
  • Experience in in silico protein optimization (activities, stability, specification). Additional expertise in de novo design is advantageous.
