IBioIC’s role, as a specialist in the Industrial Biotechnology (IB) sector, is to stimulate the growth of the IB sector in Scotland to £900 million by 2025. IBioIC connects industry, academia and government and facilitates collaborations, provides scale-up capabilities, creates networks and develops skills.
What we are looking for:
The (Scottish) Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) requires a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to champion Industrial Biotechnology, ensure the Innovation Centre is collaborative in nature, continues to meet the needs of industry and is sustainable. The CEO will drive external and international engagement and will be the lead player in promoting Scotland as an IB location at international conferences, as well as, through frequent interactions with Government Ministers and being a spokesperson for the sector. The CEO will also plan and direct the activities of the IBioIC to grow its profile as a world leading research and development centre focused on industrial needs and commercial impacts.
Reporting to the Chair of the IBioIC Board, and with the support of the Executive Dean of Science of the host institution, the University of Strathclyde, the CEO will provide credible and creative leadership to ensure the long term success and sustainability of the Innovation Centre. She or he will enhance organisational capability to deliver sustainable programmes and projects that meet the needs of its industrial members, partners and stakeholders. With extensive industrial experience of operating in Industrial Biotechnology and the Chemical Industry, the CEO will lead and manage the Centre to create a dynamic, industry focused environment with a growing national and international profile. With a track record of achievement at a senior professional level within both large international companies and SMEs, the CEO will be a well-recognised and respected figure with an extensive international network
The IBioIC CEO role is critical in ensuring that the Innovation Centre is strategically aligned and has an input to strategic reviews at a national level.
