The Applications Analyst – LIMS will join the front lines of a collaborative, dynamic and fast paced Research team. This position offers the opportunity for a self-motivated Applications Analyst to play a key role in evaluation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and evolution of Geltor’s various data and information systems, particularly the LIMS system. Additionally, under the supervision of the Associate Director of Bioinformatics, the qualified candidate will be responsible for developing data analysis pipelines, implementing state-of-the-art computational methods, and implementing current and emerging computational biology and bioinformatics algorithms to explore and leverage research and sequence data for applications in discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Take the lead in the implementation, installation, and testing of applications with customization for the end users, in collaboration with both internal teams and third parties
    • Provide technical expertise for on-going maintenance and customization of the LIMS system (Benchling) and AWS-hosted applications
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the use requirements of applications and develop the roadmap for function implementation
    • Provide immediate end-user support, whether that be training, troubleshooting bugs, or building out new applications/workflows within the system
    • Perform routine systems backups and upgrades
    • Analyze and review enhancements for compatibility, adhere to operating guidelines and perform integration testing
    • Configure APIs independently or with Benchling technical support for integration with other systems such as QMS (Qooling) and data visualization (Tableau)
    • Support automation of reporting and data visualization from applications, to allow for more efficient end user analysis
    • Implement new computational pipelines to generate candidate protein sequences with desired function.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools for genome / metagenomic annotation and analysis


    • BA/BS, Computer Science, or related technical degree
    • 3-5 years’ experience in IT, Engineering, or a similar role
    • Experience with SQL, Python/R, and AWS implementations
    • Experience working with Qooling, Benchling, or Tableau is a plus
    • Experience maintaining and working in the databases used by the above suites, including running database queries for routine and ad hoc purposes
    • Experience with biology/biotechnology research workflows is a plus
    • Self-motivated, organized individual with strong oral and written communication skills across different business functions
    • Ability to work across business units and maintain strong knowledge of business needs
    • Capacity to be flexible and take on a variety of tasks
